The Apocalyptic Prophetic View: A Coming Time of Great Distress

A Vision of Isaiah, the Hebrew prophet:

"I will give children to be their princes, and babes will rule over them. The people will be oppressed, every one by another and every one by his neighbor; the child will be insolent toward the elder, and the base towards the honorable" (Isaiah 3:4-5).

A prophecy of Jeremiah:

"They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly, saying, 'Peace, peace!' when there is no peace" (Jeremiah 6:14).

One of Ezekiel's visions:

"They have blown the trumpet and made everyone ready, but no one goes to battle; for My wrath is on all their multitude. The sword is outside, and the pestilence and famine within" (Ezekiel 7:14-15).

God's word to Zephaniah:

"The great day of the Lord is near ... That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of devastation and desolation, ... a day of trumpet and alarm ..." (Zephaniah 1:14-16).

The word of God to Joel:

"Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the Lord is coming, for it is at hand; a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness" (Joel 2:1-2).

From the mouth of Moses:

"... If you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God ... all these curses will come upon you ... Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country. Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your land ..." (Deuteronomy 28:15-18).

God's Word through Hosea:

"... The Lord brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: 'There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, killing and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, with bloodshed upon bloodshed' " (Hosea 4:1-2).

An end-time prophecy of Daniel:

"And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time" (Daniel 12:1).

"Drink wine from them; they shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them" (Amos 9:13-14). GN
