A peaceful world? Absolutely not! It's no secret that we
don't live in such a place or time. During the last
century, catastrophic wars devastated entire societies and
took the lives of more than 150 million men, women and children.
In more recent years dozens of armed conflicts, uprisings,
terrorist incidents and insurrections have raged around the
globe, shattering the lives of millions.
But why does so much
conflict, violence and downright evil permeate our societies?
Why is crime, war, religious confusion, famine, starvation, disease and premature
death so pervasive? There is an important answer to this question—of which
most people are woefully ignorant! The Bible reveals that a sadistic, vicious
spirit being actively orchestrates the wickedness that dominates our planet.
God's Word most often calls him the devil and Satan.
Unfortunately, the
notion of the devil as a literal being has fallen into disfavor and even outright
ridicule today. Even so, the Bible makes clear that Satan is an immensely powerful
entity who sustains a sinister influence and impact on the whole of humanity.
In fact, the Word of God reveals a vast amount of information about this unseen
power who stealthily works to pervert and deceive. The question is, are you aware
of what he is doing in a depraved attempt to influence
and destroy you and your family.

The
United Church of God is informing and warning people of
