The Good News magazine -- A Magazine of Understanding
The Good News reader update March 5, 2004 - Letter from the publisher of The Good News.

Dear Friend,

If God is a God of love and mercy, why does He allow so much hardship, grief and suffering in the world? Could it be that God is indifferent to human distress? Is He, perhaps, just powerless to do anything about it? Why isn't suffering imposed only on those who deserve it? Why are innocent people, including little children, often the tragic victims? Many people are bewildered and confused when facing these hard questions—especially when dealing with a family emergency or calamity. Have similar questions troubled and perplexed you? Just what are the answers?

Booklet: Why Does God Allow Suffering?

Free Booklet:
Why Does God Allow Suffering?

Nobody, it seems, has a believable explanation as to why human misery persists. But, don't you deserve a satisfying and convincing answer? We would like to offer you a free booklet that clearly examines and explains, from a biblical perspective, the underlying causes and cures of human suffering. It describes why so much pain, adversity and heartache afflict us today. It also shows how you can more effectively deal with the various afflictions and obstacles you encounter daily. This booklet is titled: Why Does God Allow Suffering? You are welcome to order a free copy or download it directly from our Web site: www.ucg.org/booklets/.

Actually, we will soon be making this booklet and other literature available to thousands more potential readers. Beginning in May, over 300,000 copies of two brand-new Good News subscription brochures will be placed on "take-one" displays in 3,000 major supermarkets and discount stores. These stores include Wal-Mart, Kroger, Meijer, Shop Rite and many others located in large and small communities throughout the United States. One of the new promotional brochures offers "Why Does God Allow Suffering?" and the other deals with the subject of feeling overwhelmed. These captivating advertisements will offer readers helpful and edifying booklets and a subscription to The Good News. Our hope is that these new promotions will find a large, willing and interested audience who will request the booklets and the magazine they offer.

Finally, please accept our thanks for your continuing interest in The Good News magazine. It is our goal to educate all people about Christ's astounding message of a bright and positive future that is coming for all people.

Sincerely,
