The Good News magazine -- A Magazine of Understanding
The Good News reader update

June 3, 2003 - Letter from the President of the United Church of God.

Dear Friend,

Doesn’t it seem as if good news is often in short supply? Newspaper headlines regularly cry out about war, murder, kidnapping, joblessness and family conflicts. Are there solutions to the troubles of the human race? Why can’t people seem to get along? Is there a path that can provide more than simply “quick fixes” to our problems? Is there a way that offers effective, lasting solutions to human clashes and tensions? There certainly is!

There is compelling, optimistic good news available—in fact it is the best news anyone could ever hear! Not only does this news explain how people will learn to help rather than hinder, but it offers hope of full, happy, cooperative, exhilarating lives ahead for all people of all races and lands.

This is the message of the Good News magazine published by the United Church of God, an International Association. The Good News not only reports today’s news and shows how people can be successful problem solvers now, but it also explains the Creator’s plan for an incredible future of unbelievable good will, cooperation and economic blessing.

To help make it easier for people to find out more about all this, we recently upgraded our presence on the Internet using a fresh, new approach. It is now much easier and faster for a visitor to navigate to various pages and areas. If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit our Web site, we encourage you to do so at www.ucg.org. We will also soon be upgrading our Good News magazine Web site at www.gnmagazine.org.

Currently 135,000 visitors come to the site each month. It includes literature on-line, audio recordings, youth studies and much more. Every day, new, relevant material is posted. Often it is news related, focusing on world events in relation to biblical prophecy. One especially exciting feature is a live news feed from leading worldwide news sources, including the BBC, IHT, CNN and Guardian Unlimited.

We are also strengthening our presence on cable-access television and on radio. A log of the television and radio stations on which we are airing our programs was included in the May/June 2003 issue of The Good News. We encourage you to view that log to see if there is a station in your area. Television and radio programs can also be seen and heard on our Internet site. Topics of radio programs to be aired in the coming weeks include:

• When God Doesn’t Make Sense.
• Making Sense of Today’s Confusing World.
• Cloning: Making Man in Our Image.
• Transforming Your Life.
• Origin of the Arabs.

The Good News is dedicated to pointing people to the true, godly solutions to the troubles they encounter today and teaching the sparkling truth of the marvelous world that is coming tomorrow. We hope that what you read and learn provides understanding, wisdom and encouragement. Be sure to let us know how we can be of further help.
